A call to battle! Back to Aljubarrota
The Tour
Go back in time and join King John 1st in the battle that ensured Portugal’s Independence in 1385!
Share all the moments of courage and risk that took place in Aljubarrota’s battle field and explore the places where this important event in the Portuguese History took place, with some help of today’s technology.
The morning is complete with a trip in the mountains and a short walk in an ancient road, built by the romans and used by the Spanish army to invade Portugal.
The afternoon is spent in the beautiful town of Batalha, where the echoes of the past are hidden in every corner, always in the shade of the great Monastery. This great building was promised by the King on the eve of the battle and built soon after as a symbol of gratitude for the Portuguese victory. Its halls and cloisters still remember the faithful monks that lived and prayed in its walls, and the great church is a testimony to engineers and builders of the Medieval Ages.
